Bangkok, 16 November 2018 – More than 20 of Agoda’s Phuket-based team and some of its hotel partners recently took part in a volunteer project to help save endangered gibbons at the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, as part of Agoda’s on-going grassroot corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Decked out in raincoats and smiles, the team headed to Khao Phra Thaeo National Park to find out more about the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, which helps rescue gibbons from poachers who use them to sell photos with tourists on the holiday island.
The team rolled up their sleeves helping to clean and maintain the cages where the rescued gibbons are cared for and treated before their release back to the wild, plus the team assisting with the planting of White Backed Palm, a tree native to Phuket and part of the natural habitat for gibbons.
Spearheaded by Siriporn Kanjananij, Partner Services Market Manager at Agoda, the Agoda team also sold Agoda-branded Gibbon Rehabilitation t-shirts as part of the community activity, raising 35,000 baht which is being donated to the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand.
