BANGKOK, THAILAND – The annual urban fitness challenge, Test of Will, returned for its third edition last weekend at Eden, Central World. Organised by high-performance sportswear label Under Armour, the event’s intense functional training challenges celebrated determined athletes, goal-getters and fitness aspirants alike. It was a lively weekend with over 1,000 strong-willed athletes joining Southeast Asia’s largest urban fitness challenge, Test of Will 2018.
Under Armour’s ultimate fitness challenge sets out to challenge the will and vigour of Thais. The highlight of this year’s Test of Will challenge was the introduction of age categories to level the playing field (18-34 years, 35-44 years, and 45+ years). Another significant change was that the minimum age to qualify lowered to 18 years, extending the opportunity to younger fitness enthusiasts who wanted to put their will to the test.
Dialling up the intensity from last year, 2018 participants competed in an all-new four-minute circuit challenge – Over and Under (Hurdle), Deadball Squats, Kettlebell Farmer Walks and Bear Crawls – which tested their strength, endurance and power. Each competitor was scored based on the maximum number of correct repetitions they could achieve within 60 seconds.
The top three male and female athletes in each category received a limited-edition Test of Will 2018 medal as well as a one week test drive of the new BMW X3, courtesy of BMW, one of the event’s main sponsors.
The top-scoring champions from each category (six in total) walked away with a cash prize of THB50,000, a THB50,000 voucher to shop at Under Armour and a BMW lifestyle bicycle each.
During the Thailand heats, held at Eden, Central World, over 1,000 competitors came in to put their will to the test and demonstrate that Thais are dedicated and resilient. Like Under Armour’s latest global campaign, Will Finds A Way, Under Armour sets out to inspire and ignite the world with events like this to celebrate the power ‘will’ has to overcome the odds and achieve the unthinkable.
Thailand’s Test of Will 2018 overall winners are Ryan Fryer with a score of 224 and Phannapa Nichapa, two-time Test of Will champion, with a score of 218.
